Proper P.C. Board Handling Techniques

* All Boards Should Be Respected As Static Charge Sensitive *

  1. Make sure system is powered down and locked out before removing any circuit cards.
  2. Always "Discharge" oneself by "Grounding" to any metal object. (This removes excessive static charges from your body ) before handling the circuit boards.
  3. Once removed, place boards on any non-metal anti-static surface or into anti-static bags.
  4. Do not place the boards onto the metal surface, as to which you discharge onto.
  5. Be careful with any boards that have memory backup batteries . If this board is laid onto a conductive surface, it may discharge the batteries as well as damage any IC's on the board.
  6. Use of wrist straps (anti-static) is recommended, but not necessary if care is taken when removing and handling boards.
  7. When packaging or handling P.C. Boards, take caution not to bend any components.
  8. Place boards into anti-static bags.
